In honor of Earth Day, TMT Development provided electronic recycling through E-Waste Matters for our Fox Tower tenants and two days celebrating our tenants green efforts through our green vendors on Thursday and Friday. This is one of our favorite weeks of the year and a time to acknowledge what we are all doing every day to make this earth a better place.
We provided over 10 varieties of tomato plants to show our appreciation for the participation of our tenants. Everyone was excited to get to choose their personal preference. We had Chocolate Cherry, Brandywine, Roma, Early Girl and Oregon Spring Tomatoes. 12 tenants in our building won amazing gift cards to Ringside Fish House, Brunch Box, Pastini, Nordstrom, Nike, TriMet, Dragontree Spa and Case Study Coffee to our tenants who visited our local vendors who practice sustainability every day.
Thank you to the following vendors for making Earth Week at Fox Tower such a success:
Soup Cycle, Earth Share Oregon, Rebuilding Center, Portland Pedal Power, Eco Baby Gear, Energy Trust, Bark Out, Green Furniture Solutions, Cartridge World, and E-Waste Matters
In honor of Earth Day, TMT had four vendors set up in the Fox Tower lobby over three days. These vendors were not only informative about steps we can take to better care for the environment, they also offered services to our tenants to help them “go green!”
April 22nd was Reuse and Recycle Day, brought to us by Free Greek and Total Reclaim. Free Geek is a non-profit organization that recycles technology and provides access to computers, education and job skills in exchange for community service. Electronics recycled that day were given to schools, nonprofits, and other community change organizations. Total Reclaim provides a wide variety of innovative environmental services for management of electronics and other hard-to-handle materials. They work with customers to keep hazardous waste out of our landfills. Items recycled on the 22nd included printers, servers, televisions, toasters, VCR’s, DVD players, stereos, misc. electronics and cell phones.
April 23rd was Food Waste Reduction Day, brought to us by GoBox. GoBox offers a new way to get your take-out meals in a reusable to-go box that helps reduce waste from disposable take-out containers. Since the food carts are only a few blocks away from the Fox Tower , this was very informative for our tenants. Portland goes through roughly 60,000 disposable containers every month! GoBox aims to reduce this waste and offered our tenants a special discount for signing up during Earth Week.
April 24th was Transportation Day, brought to us by Zipcar and OpConnect. There are several Zipcars located in the immediate vicinity of Fox Tower that offer wheels when you want them! Using Zipcar when you need it means less congestion and less pollution, and they also offered our tenants a special discount during Earth Week. OpConnect was also on hand, as Fox Tower is now home to four OpConnect vehicle charging stations located on the B2 level of the parking garage.
